Egyptian archaeologists said they discovered the burial chamber and sarcophagus of King Senusret II who was believed to have ruled Egypt from 1897 to 1878 BC The burial chamber is
was found at Al Lahun, the town built by Senusret II, who became ruler of Egypt between the 12th and the 13th Dynasty.
" The sarcophagus is made of pink granite and the burial chamber of red granite " said Ahmed Abdel Aal, head of the Antiquities of the Fayum, south of Cairo.
The excavation team also found that wind corridors and passages inside the pyramid of the king, built to mislead thieves. They also found pieces of wood from which the sacred boat of the sovereign and jars of alabaster with hieroglyphic.
